Meet the 2011 Seattle Brain Cancer Walk Honorary Chairs!

If you are reading this, you probably know someone whose life has been forever changed by brain cancer.  My own journey began in December of 2008, when a excruciating headache forced me to seek medical attention during a rare Seattle blizzard.  On the way to the hospital, My husband and I worried about the icy driving conditions. Driving home, our existence indelibly altered by a dark shadow on a scan, we faced a new fear, one we still struggle with now, two years down the road.

Nan Street

September 2005 brought the celebration of our beautiful daughter’s 21st birthday and her diagnosis of a brain tumor. What a conflict of emotions we felt. Lara was just beginning her senior year at the University of Portland where she was majoring in Physics and Math and minoring in Spanish. It quickly became apparent that she needed to take a leave from her academic pursuits, and come home to begin treatment.
